At Southport Golf Academy we aim to offer excellent value for money. Whether you play occasionally or frequently, we have a package for you.

We offer a contract to play the course, plus optional membership to the SGA Golf Club, which uses the facility to play competition.

Contracts run from the month of joining for 12 months, whereas club membership is an annual fee, paid in January.

The contract is in effect a season ticket, allowing unlimited play, subject to tee availability which must be booked in advance. It is termed Membership to keep us aligned with golf terminology, but has no direct affiliation to England Golf which is responsible for administering the World Handicap System. However the SGA Golf Club which is a further option, is managed by its members, its executive closely aligned with the Golf Academy, but with only the remit to agree and manage official competitions and social functions.

There are very few limitations to joining - and no waiting lists or complicated procedures. There are of course criteria in place and controls on behaviour and adherence to our principles and the principles of the game.

Inclusive of VAT at 20%:

Contract holders and SGA club members are required to understand that as the course is part of an academy: patience and understanding is required. Everyone has (had) to start somewhere, so we try to provide assistance to beginners and supervise the course at key times with this in mind.

An alternative to a contract and club membership is to buy an 18 x 9-hole card for £180 (does not qualify for competitions or insurance, but can be used 7 days a week), saving 20% on 9-hole rates.
The SGA Golf Club
Our SGA membership package includes a full calendar of competitions and social events. Hand in 3 cards for a handicap and you’re away! If competition is not for you, then there is no pressure to take part, however, to retain a WHS handicap you must play in three qualifying competitions. Membership is currently £25 per calender year.

VAT. Please note when comparing our membership and contract fees with other courses we are at a disadvantage because we are privately owned, and therefore obliged to charge and pay VAT. Members-owned golf clubs are exempt from this liability.
